rabbit5000
rabbit has partnered with Running Warehouse to present the rabbit5000, which is a perfect last-chance qualifier for athletes looking to secure entry into the USATF Outdoor National Championships. Pacers will be provided for those attempting to achieve the A Standard at 5000 meters of 13:35 for men and 15:25 for women as well as 13:50 and 15:50 respectively.
A community 3000 will also precede the elite races.
Entry
Entry standards for the rabbit5000 are 14:30 for men and 17:10 for women. Athletes who have not achieved those marks but would like to be considered for entry can email the race director, David Monico. The rabbit5000 is only open to US Citizens with zero lifetime doping infractions.
The race will take place on June 2, 2018, just after sunset, under the lights at Santa Barbara City College’s spectacular La Playa Stadium
Prizes
The winner (or first non-collegiate finisher) in each race will receive a $500 prize, with a $1000 bonus if the runner achieves the USATF A Standard.
Second and third place finishers in each race are also eligible for a $250 bonus if they run under 14:10 in the men’s race or 16:30 in the women’s race.
NCAA/NIAA athletes are eligible to compete but cannot win prize money. In the event that a collegiate athlete wins the race, the first non-collegiate runner across the line will receive the winner’s prize and, if applicable, the A Standard bonus.
